Ribut Basuki completed his undergraduate degree in the Department of English, IKIP Malang, (now State University of Malang) in 1989; graduate degree (S2) at the Theatre Department, Arizona State University (ASU), USA in 1999; and doctoral degree (S3) at the Literature Study Program, University of Indonesia (UI), Depok in 2010. In 1999, after completing his S2 studies, he took a certificate in Film Making at the New York Film Academy, USA. In the Master’s Program in Literature, PCU, he teaches theoretical courses such as Theories in Literary and Cultural Studies and Theories in Applied Literature, as well as crafts such as playwriting and screenplay writing. His research and community service are carried out in the scope of culture such as theater arts both traditional and modern, the use of art-culture in village tourism, and film in the digital era. He received several grants for both research and community service. He is currently working on a Scientific Research grant from LPDP regarding cultural tourism villages. In the managerial field, Ribut Basuki became the Head of the English Literature Study Program (2001-2003). From 2003 to 2006 he was a member of the Theatre Commission at the East Java Arts Council (DKJT). In 2010-2017 he served as Dean of the Faculty of Letters (then the Faculty of Languages and Literature), UK Petra. In 2017 – 2021, he served as Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), UK Petra. Since 2010 he has been an Assessor of BAN-PT (National Accreditation Board for Higher Education). Since 2018 he has also been the Chairman of ESAI (English Studies Association in Indonesia), the Association of English Study Programs in Indonesia.
