Satya completed his Master’s study at Leiden University, the Netherlands, in 2002 in the field of Modern English Literature. He received a scholarship from the government with the BPPDN program in 2014 to study in a doctoral program. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Literature Program, University of Indonesia in 2019. Since 1997 until now he is active as a teaching staff at the English Literature Study Program of Petra Christian University, Surabaya. Now trusted as Head of Master’s Program in Literature, PCU. The object of study he is interested in is literature and film with an approach of Cultural Studies and psychoanalysis. Some of the writings that have been published include: The Dynamic Interplay Between Agent and Structure in the Film the Shawshank Redemption (2015), Haruki Murakami’s Deconstructive Reading of the Myth of Johnnie Walker and Colonel Sanders in Kafka on the Shore (2012, co-authored with Djakaria, J.D.), T.S. Eliot’s Misreading of Some Mythological Sources in The Waste Land (2009). In addition to writing various journal articles on poetry and film, Satya also published a book of poetry collections with Ribut Basuki and Dwi Setiawan entitled Tiga Tak Tahu Diri (2015). His last book published was Women and Nationalism in Indonesian Border Films (2021).
