Liliek Soelistyo completed her undergraduate degree at the Department of English in the Faculty of Letters and Culture in Gadjah Mada University in 1979. She continued to pursue her master’s degree at the Department of English, the University of Kansas, USA in 1989. In 2015 she completed her Doctorate degree at the Department of Media and Cultural Studies at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. She is interested in topics such as Science Fiction, Identity, and Media for her research. She had once served as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Department of English from 1993 to 1997 and was appointed as the Special Staff for the Rector for Further Study from 1996 -2006. She had served as the Head of Petra Language Center from 2014 – 2018. From 2015 to 2022 she was assigned as the Director of King Sejong Institute owned by the Korean Government, located at Petra Christian University, a collaboration with Dongseo University. From June to August 2017, she was granted as the recipient of Taiwan Fellowship Program and did research in Taiwan. In 2018 she was invited as a teaching fellow for the Asia Summer Program at Dongseo University, Busan, Korea. During the pandemic she was again invited as a teaching fellow for the Asia Summer Program at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) from 16-29 August 2021. Currently she is still teaching at the Department of English, Faculty of Humanities and creative Industries, Petra Christian University, Surabaya.
